Book Signing: #MarieLuinPH

Night before the book signing, I can't sleep because of excitement. I've been waiting for Marie Lu's book signing since the news came out. Legend trilogy is definitely one of the best dystopia trilogies I've ever read and praises to Ms. Lu's writing style and creativity. I know I should not miss this day.

November 23,2014 - Sunday. Waking up early and arriving at Glorietta around 8 am, I am shocked how long the line is. I have to go around 2 corners of Glorietta to fall in line. IT WAS REALLY A LONG LINE. After the registration, with my BookGfs, Rhyzza and Jane, and I decided to watch Mockingjay part 1 while waiting. (I'll write my movie reaction soon, together with the If I Stay).

The event was overwhelming and filled with screams of joy when Marie Lu appeared. I tried taking pictures of her, but the crowd was really crazy and wild.. (If I just have a ladder, I swear I'll use it. Just to capture a clear picture of Marie Lu.)She is one of the loveliest authors I've met and she is pretty cool! With tattoos, the way she answered questions, talking about her books, Legend being a film soon, sequel to The Young Elites etc. It was exhausting, but definitely worth it. Meeting up with the Book Girlfriends PH, Instagrammers, Book Bloggers, Goodreads friends. Some I missed but for sure I'll see them in the future book signing events.

This is the clearest picture I have because the crowd just went wild and everybody stood up from their seats. I can't blame them though. Peace peeps! No pun intended.

Marie Lu, signing my book.

-The day wouldn't be complete without a picture with Marie Lu.-

- Here is my signed Legend trilogy -

Such an awesome day! There are more to come in the future. Thank you so much Marie Lu for signing my books and to National Bookstore for bringing authors here in the Philippines. It was a book-signing-hangover.

Ruin by Rachel Van Dyken

Pages: 250
Goodreads rating: 4.26 / 5 stars
My Rating: 5 /5 Stars
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Summary (Goodreads):

I'm not your typical girl. I've been running away from the memories that haunt me for so long that depression has become my only comfort. I was content in the darkness...until Wes Michals offered to be my light.

I didn't know that time wasn't my ally -- that every second that ticked past was one step closer to the end of something that was beginning to mean the end of myself. He tried to warn me. He promised me all he was able to offer--each moment as it came--but it would never be enough.

Sometimes when you think it's the end, it's only the beginning. Wes thought he could save me, but in giving me everything, he ruined me. Because after one kiss, one touch, I couldn't--I wouldn't ever be the same.

And from that moment on, his heartbeat became my own.

My Review:

I had a Rachel Van Dyken readathon by reading Eagle Elite series. Once I'm done and had a book-hangover, I want to read another book of hers and decided to try this one.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Wes Michels is definitely a swoon-worthy guy. This book is emotional, romantic, and sweet. I am carried away with the story and I'm just in awe. It's hard to control the tears as I've read this book and I stayed up late at night because I'm hooked with the story. We all have low points in life and on the verge of giving up. Just like Wes, he struggled and almost lose the battle of his life. Through love, it strengthens him and determined to fight his illness.

Amazing bookndeed. I am so glad I've read this

This Man is devastatingly handsome, charming and confident. He is also a conceited, hedonistic playboy, who knows no boundaries. Ava desperately does not want to be attracted to him, but she can’t control the overwhelming affect he has on her. Every instinct is telling her to run, so she does, but Jesse Ward is not so willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her. She knows she is heading for heartbreak, but how can she run when he won’t let her?

My Review:

This review contains RANTS. These are my HONEST THOUGHTS.

It takes a lot of PATIENCE to endure these annoying characters. I don't have any issues with the writing style because it's great. There is humor and romance in it. The sex scenes are steamy and it's beautiful. I am just not really a fan of Extremely-possessive-Guys . JESSE WARD may be attractive but he is TOO possessive and hot headed. Damn this guy. While I don't really get AVA O'SHEA. She loves Jesse Ward, and is undeniably attracted to him. Yet there were times she want him to leave her alone for good. I DON'T GET THIS WOMAN AT ALL. I don't know if she is playing hard to get or what.. IDK. This couple annoyed the heck out of me.

I'm going to read the next one and HOPEFULLY, THESE TWO........ NEED TO UNDERSTAND MORE OF EACH OTHER AND SOLVE THEIR FUCKING ISSUES.

Take Me On by Katie McGarry

Pages: 544
Goodreads rating: 4.16 / 5 Stars
My Rating: 5/5 Stars
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary Romance

Summary (Goodreads):

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

My Review:

"You're never going to win a fight unless you take a chance and actually engage."

I can't describe what I'm feeling right now. This series keeps getting better and I absolutely love this one. The characters, the writing style, the romance and the twists are lovable. Katie McGarry's books are indeed addictive because it will give you all sort of feelings. Pain, giddiness, sadness.. just everything!

I admire Haley's kick-ass character and her sacrifices for her family. Sometimes a fighter experienced downfalls and to escape those problems, is to run away and keep things to herself. I love how realization kicks in that in life, we don't have to carry the burdens alone, if someone is willing to help you, learn to accept it and trust them.

As for West Young, he's all cocky and rich. oh my goodness gracious, he is adorably sexy! I'm so sorry for gushing... I CAN'T HELP IT! They way he fights for Haley, uggghh! so romantic! He's such a man of his words. I.Freaking.Love.Him.

There are some parts of this book that put tears in my eyes. Both Haley and West fought for their realtionship and learn their differences.

Once again, Katie McGarry deserves a two thumbs up! I can't wait for the future books to come. Especially about Noah and Echo. I wonder if Abby, Ethan and Logan will have their own stories. (Never say Never! I'm going to cross my fingers for it.)
