#MichelleHodkininPH : The Michelle Hodkin Manila Signing Tour

Sunday, January 18, 2015 - 3 days before my Birthday

The first book signing event of 2015, held at Fullybooked: Alabang Town Center. Michelle Hodkin's second day Book signing for her Filipino Readers. It was a cold, gloomy weather. It rained but I don't mind.

The queue isn't that long because most people attended the January 17th signing held at Fullybooked Bonifacio Global City which started around 7 pm and finished around 2 am. I bet it's worth it because they had a chance to talk with Ms. Hodkin.

Also, there was a Papal Visit. So, majority of the people attended the Holy Mass at Quirino Grand Stand. (I attended the mass after the signing but I just watched it on the big screen, live simulcast.)

So let's skip the part of registration and all that. I must say that I really enjoyed this book signing and I wish Fullybooked will organize more book signing events in the future. It was organized and they allowed readers to have a chance to talk with the author.

Michelle Hodkin, is the New York Times Best Selling author of The Mara Dyer trilogy. (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, The Retribution of Mara Dyer). It is a Young Adult/Mystery/Paranormal trilogy that will sure give you goosebumps. It's one mystery novel that is really unpredictable and creepy.

It's such a great pleasure to meet the woman behind the Mara Dyer trilogy. She's so lovely, nice , sweet and fun to talk with! I swear I had fun. More fangirling shizzums. I just love this woman. I wish I'll meet her again soon. Thank you Fullybooked for organizing such a wonderful event and Thank you Ms. Hodkin for visiting the Philippines and signing our books! <3

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Pages: 422
Goodreads rating: 3.96/5 stars
My rating: 3.5/5 stars
Genre: Adult, Suspense,  Mystery/Thriller

Summary (Goodreads):

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

My Review:

Review also posted on goodreads.

I like Gone Girl , but I must admit that I wasn't really a fan of the writing style. I had a hard time getting into the story.

It is one dark mystery novel with a f*cked up couple. Seriously, Nick Dunne and Amy Elliot- Dunne is the craziest, most f*cked up couple I have ever encountered in a book. I simply love the twists in this book, and the clues of Amazing Amy? HELL YES! I freaking love Amy Dunne! That woman is a deadly snake and she definitely belongs to my 'Best Badass Heroines' list.

I hate Nick Dunne btw, but I feel sorry for him. Lesson learned: Don't mess with Amazing Amy.

Until the End by Abbi Glines

Pages: 271
Goodreads rating: 4.56 / 5 stars
My Rating: 4 / 5 stars
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Summary (Goodreads):

The backstory that fans have been clamoring for—how Rock and Trisha fell in love—is the final installment in the Sea Breeze series from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines. And don’t miss the sizzling Epilogue, where Abbi wraps up all the Sea Breeze couples’ stories!

Trisha Corbin always knew how to hide a bruise. With her momma’s boyfriends unable to keep their hands off of her, she had no choice. And as long as it meant the guys wouldn’t go near her little brother, Krit, it was worth it. But her days of dreaming that Prince Charming would ever come rescue her are far, far in the past.

Rock Taylor always had a plan. Through football, he would rise above the life he was born into. A full ride to play for a major college team was within his reach—assuming he didn’t let anything get in his way. But scoring a date with the hottest girl in Sea Breeze was proving harder than expected. Trisha Corbin was every man’s walking fantasy, and she wouldn’t even glance his way.

When Rock finally does get Trisha in his truck, it isn’t for a date. It’s because he picks her up on the side of the road, beaten and bruised and walking to the local hospital. Before Rock knows it, football is no longer his life. Trisha Corbin is. And he’ll do anything to save her. And keep her.

In addition to Rock and Trisha’s love story, this special novel contains the wrap-up stories of all your favorite Sea Breeze couples: Sadie and Jax, Marcus and Low, Cage and Eva, Preston and Amanda, Jess and Jason, Krit and Blythe, and Dewayne and Sienna.

First book of 2015 for the #NewYearsReadathon Challenge.

This book contains epilogues of all the couples in the Sea Breeze series. I'm so happy that I've read the final book but a part of me is sad because I'm going to miss all of them. It's also nice to read Rock and Trisha's short story and GREEN HAD A LOVE LIFE! YAYS!

I gave this book 4/5 stars because I didn't like some of the epilogues (Krit and Blythe's) and all of it are baby-damn-machine stories! What the hell?! These people need to tame. Seriously. It's all happy ending though. ;) Easy and light read, it takes away my reading slump. I'll be starting a new Abbi Glines series soon. :)

Thank you NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Breaking Sky is the new dystopia to look forward to read on 2015. I'm so glad I have read this one though it took me a while to finish this because of some unfamiliar terms used in this book. I absolutely love the aeronautic concept in this story. It's exciting, thrilling, just imagining yourself in a fighting jet.. it's an adrenaline rush.

Chase "Nyx" Harcourt is one of the two star pilots to fly an experimental streaker jets against the Red Drones from Ri Xiong Di. Her character is really fascinating, she might be annoying at times but she is one badass lady pilot. She's tough, brave, and a risk taker. Absolutely "Team Nyx" All the way! I also love the little romance between her and Tristan. (I love Tristan.. SERIOUSLY) :)

One thing is for sure, I am looking forward to the next installment. I definitely recommended this if you love dystopia novels like Legend trilogy or Under the Never Sky trilogy
